1011 DL Amsterdam
A dynamic performance full of surprising duets inspired by the colourful cityscape of Amsterdam.
“One city, many faces” takes us through a kaleidoscope of stories that Amsterdam has to offer. The performance consists of four duets, exploring surprising encounters and confrontations.
Eight performers from different cultural backgrounds and genres represent the many people of the city. When they meet each other, special encounters arise. When do you give in and where do you draw your line?
These unexpected combinations include: John Kayongo, African dancer, and Celia Tort Pujol, Basque composer and oboe player, Sebo Bakker, Dutch actor at ZID Theater, and Naima Baraka, performer and kick boxer with Moroccan roots.
The audience is taken on a journey through the beautiful OBA building on the Oosterdok, along books, glass walls and escalators. This theatrical tour is guided by Simon Bronkowski from Studio 7, weaving a musical thread through the performances. Video artist Martin Boverhof creates an impressive visual environment from old and contemporary images: a cityscape of different faces. Like this, director Daan Bosch presents his vision on the city of the future.
