As part of the Pride Amsterdam2022 with the theme My Gender My Pride, the Muiderslot presents the performance HISTORIA in collaboration with the ZID theater. HISTORIA is the first dance solo by choreographer and dancer Issam Zemmouri. With strong poetic images and in an energetic dance language, Zemmouri tells about a personal journey. A journey that spans the Mediterranean between different cultures, languages, and civilizations. In this journey, past, present, and future, the quest for liberation is central.
Can I be myself?
The traveler asks himself this again and again, confronted with the obstacles and rules of the game that others determine. Every step he takes has direct consequences for the situations he finds himself in. In HISTORIA, events follow each other in rapid succession, set to music from North Africa and the Middle East. As Odysseus, the main character experiences various events and continues his journey each time, starting a new adventure. He is looking for the truth, his personal truth behind the symbols, norms, and values.
Practical information
• The performance will take place in the Ridderzaal at 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
• It takes about half an hour
• These performances are free for everyone with a valid entrance ticket.
