During the second week of ExploreZ Festival 2022, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of ZID Theater! ZID has invited various theatre makers and performing artists to jointly create a special location project Re-Dreams in Broedplaats Bouw, where ZID Theater is located.
With the site-specific performance Re-Dreams, ZID examines its own archive in relation to the future. Where the story of ZID Theater began 30 years ago with the performance Dreams, we make up the balance with Re-Dreams. In this unique production, history is approached as a source of inspiration for the future. Karolina Spaic (director) and Sebo Bakker (actor), who have led ZID Theater together from the start, meet different generations of makers and together they investigate the value of the ZID archive for the new generations. Led by a guide, the audience wanders through a landscape of video projections, unexpected performances, soundscapes and live musicians. The performances, inspired by ZID’s previous performances, are transformed into the here and now.
The premiere of this unique performance takes place on Friday 20 May at 8 p.m. The performance can also be seen several times during the last weekend of ExploreZ Festival 2022. After the final performance on Sunday 22 May, the ExploreZ Festival 2022 will be festively closed with an Afterparty, including a DJ and snacks.
Inspired by the performances: Dreams, Voyage, Lost City, Vreemde Vogel, HOME-X, Melkwitje, Here we Are, Liefde NU, There is no place for us, Glass Effect, Marina, Vincent & Ik, Dictionary of Nomads, The Alphabet of Uncertain Times, Van de Werelddaken and more.
