ONLINE/OFFLINE PERFORMANCE

A multidisciplinary event about making choices, created by young talent from the Netherlands and Germany. This international exchange is a collaboration between ZID Theater and Studio 7 (Germany).

An innovative interplay between virtual acts and performance on the floor, both presented to an online and offline audience. For the live-broadcast see our facebook-event.

Over the span of one week, Dutch and German urban talents and young makers between the ages of 18 and 30 are challenged to approach the theme in a creative way and come up with exciting performances in collaboration with each other.

Studio7 is a theater company and cultural house from Schwerte, Dortmund. In addition to creating performances, Studio 7 works with different groups, such as young people and the elderly, locally, regionally and internationally. ‘A cool place’ is a presentation by children, in which they reflect through dance and theatre on their environment, places where they pass, play or cannot play.

Through dance, theatre, improvisation and assignments the talented kids are stimulated to think about the theme, share experiences and find answers. This has been transformed into a dance-theatre performance from the kids perspective.

On Friday, October 16 at 12:00, a presentation will take place at the ZID Theater, followed by an open discussion. Attendance is free, but reservation is required. In addition, the performance will also be part of “Onzichtbare Stad # 1″, a theatrical route from Noorderhof along secret locations. The children form one of the perspectives on reality that arise during the innovative performance.

Christian Guerematchi – NAM – Non Aligned Movement, Location: ZID Theater, Public Event
okt 24 @ 20:00

Dance solo by Christian Guerematchi

The dance-solo NAM – Non-Aligned Movement is an artistic search for the black European identity and a research of codes of the black body. Both, the choreographer Christian Guerematchi and the musician Shishani, have roots in Europe and Africa. They take inspiration from their own backgrounds and the movements and sounds from the African diaspora. In NAM – Non-Aligned Movement they embark on an epic and Afro-futuristic journey to the Balkans.

NAM – Non-Aligned Movement is part of the broader movement and sound research – Epistemologies of The Body wherein the focus lies on stories about the black body. The title NAM – Non-Aligned Movement is inspired by the Movement of Non-Alignment from the 1960’s, which played an important part in the process of decolonization and the independence movements from so-called third world countries.

Christian Guerematchi is born in Maribor, Slovenia, then Yugoslavia. As a dancer, he worked with companies like Ballet Kiel (Germany) and Compagnie Thor (Brussels) and since 2008 he is associated with ICK Amsterdam. Because of his interest in the voice he works in Amsterdam with choreographers like Nicole Beutler. The performance White Noise in collaboration with the spoken word artist OTION has been Christian’s first bigger and self-produced project.

The performance had the opening night at Theater De Meervaart on 11 September.

Made possible by: ICK Dans Amsterdam & Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst

Rebel – Naïma Baraka, Location: ZID Theater, Public event
okt 25 @ 16:00 – 17:00

WORK IN PROGRESS

Rebel is a solo performance by Naïma Baraca about a woman who has multiple personalities. Is she a fighter, a diva or a childlike dreamer? Or is she all at the same time?

A female kickboxer reveals her story and takes us through the motives and powers of a contemporary woman.

Performance and text: Naïma Baraca
Director: Karolina Spaic

Naima Baraka is a performer, kick boxer, butoh dancer and urban storyteller. From an early age she was engaged in theater. Then she discovered kickboxing and started training and teaching fanatically. In her solo Rebel she brings these two worlds together. Naima has been performing at ZID Theater since 2017 in various performances and also teaches.

This performance is part of a combination ticket for 2 solo performances: Rebel by Naïma Baraca and HISTORIA by Issam Zemmouri.

Issam Zemmouri is a choreographer and dancer with a unique personal style: a combination of contemporary dance, physical expression and kinetic poetry. Through movement, he addresses sensitive subjects, where words fail

Historia is a work-in-progress, exclusively shown during the ExploreZ festival.

From October 19 until 22, Issam also offers his workshop “Movement 2 Dance”, aimed at refugees and the LGBTQ community. Through dance, power structures will be addressed and stereotypes are broken, and artistic expression will gain free reign.
