In her autobiographical dance solo, Eva Geia Huisman makes connections between her Dutch roots and her origin as Aboriginal with ancestors from the Australian Torres Strait Islands. Through dance she gives freedom to those two magnetic forces and takes along the audience into her world.

The Eternal Feminine | Emily Bannister | location: ZID Theater | public event
sep 25 @ 21:00

From Monteverdi to Beyoncé, the woman in art is often a creature of mythical proportions. In this interactive performance with dance, theatre and music, we follow the life of such an archetypal woman, from child to adult. Inventively, the roles of these women in art in both past and present are juxtaposed and mirrored.

okt 1 @ 20:00

An international co-production by actress and theatre maker Maja Mitić (Ko-smo(s) Theater, Serbia) and director Anna Furse (Athletes of the Heart (UK)). Rebel | Naïma Baraka | location: ZID Theater | public event
okt 2 @ 20:00

A female kick boxer reveals her story and takes us along the incentives and powers of a modern-day woman. In her energetic and emotional play she gets confronted with her environment, culture, and the expectations of others. Is she a fighter, a diva or a dreamer? Or is she all in one? Naïma Baraka sees kickboxing as a mental exercise, as playing chess with the body, and uses it as a dance form and as a philosophy of life in her performance. As a performer, she uses kickboxing as a metaphor for a personal process of trial and error and rediscovering your own power.

The Alfabet of Uncertain Times | Zid Theater | location: Vondelkerk | public event
okt 8 @ 20:00

In ZID Theater’s new performance, eight performers use physical play and poetic images to create a dictionary in which language, image and movement merge. The public experiences how the actors reflect on collective and personal perception in times of instability. Poet Vivan Deekman wrote new work especially for this performance and will perform it.

The audience sits in a circle around the performance. In this way, the audience and the actors share a common space. This creates intimacy and confrontation at the same time.

In addition to the performance, an accompanying video installation has also been created, which serves as a deepening in the image and language of words and themes. The video can be seen on the day itself, but also at the Amsterdam Museum.

You can also attend the premiere of this performance on Thursday, September 30 at 20.00 at Podium Mozaïek! [
